US Government UFO Report Released

On Friday, a U.S. government report on UFOs said that defense and intelligence analysts do not have adequate data to determine the nature of mysterious flying objects observed by military pilots, including whether they are advanced earthly technologies, atmospheric phenomena, or of an extraterrestrial origin.

According to the study, there were 144 reports of an unidentified aerial phenomenon, of which investigators were able to pinpoint only one explanation. Investigators determined that the sightings did not represent either extraterrestrial life or a major technological advancement by a foreign adversary such as Russia or China.

According to the report, which was submitted to Congress and made public, the government has documented 144 observations dating back to 2004 in relation to what is officially called "unidentified aerial phenomena, or UAP." A number of UAP cases in the report were previously brought to light by videos released by the Pentagon showing mysterious aircraft operating near U.S. coastlines. UAPs exhibited speed and maneuverability beyond known aviation technologies and lacked visible propulsion or flight controls.

According to a US official: "Of the 144 reports we are dealing with here, we have no clear indications that there is any non-terrestrial explanation for them – but we will go wherever the data takes us." At least one case is attributed to "airborne clutter" and the rest remain unexplained. U.S. authorities have yet to rule out or affirm the possibility that the sightings may be of extraterrestrial origin.

A senior US official said, "Of data we have, we don't have any clear indications that any of these unidentified aerial phenomena are part of a foreign (intelligence) collection program, and we don't have any clear data that is indicative of a major technological advancement by a potential adversary," A second senior official said 21 of the reports showed UAPs with advanced propulsion or technology, lacked any means of propulsion or acceleration, and demonstrated speeds that exceeded those of foreign adversaries.
